My Fertility Journey
My fertility journey lasted nearly six years. It included several miscarriages, different medical procedures, and many rounds of medication and other types of interventions. I also attempted in-vitro fertilization (IVF) multiple times, but unfortunately, none of them worked at first. This entire experience left me feeling extremely sad and alone. I couldn’t help but feel betrayed and frustrated at my own body for not being able to do something as seemingly as basic as having a baby.
Like many women trying to have a baby with medical help, all the treatments made me put up a wall to protect myself emotionally. This is normal and actually inevitable considering what I was going through. It was how I dealt with the tough emotions of trying to get pregnant and feeling disappointed when it didn’t work.
One day, someone I knew confided in me about their fertility challenges. This encouraged me to open up about my own journey to another woman who had faced similar struggles. Whilst I had attempted counselling sessions myself previously, I found it difficult to fully connect with the therapists emotionally because they hadn’t gone through fertility issues themselves. Finding someone who truly understood both the emotional and physical aspects of my experience created a safe environment for me to express myself. This encounter completely transformed my life.
My perspective on my fertility journey completely shifted. It became the turning point that allowed me to lower my guard, release control, and reduce the tension between my mind and body, which were always in conflict. This change paved the way for me to conceive, and approximately a year later, my husband and I happily welcomed our healthy and beautiful daughter into the world.
My Journey from Teacher to Counsellor
My personal experience with fertility issues inspired me to transition from being a Principal at a Montessori school to becoming a therapist. My focus is on helping women and their partners navigate their journey through fertility treatments. I feel a deep desire to support others facing similar challenges on their journey to becoming parents and I want people in these similar situations to understand that they are not alone, that their emotions are real, and that expressing their feelings can be a part of the healing process. It’s vital for everyone involved on this journey to have a safe place to share their burdens and to know that someone is holding space in a trusted environment at their most vulnerable at such a crucial time in their lives.
In 2022 I completed my training and received my license to practice.
My Approach
My Journey With You
Some of us go through this journey alone, while others rely heavily on a partner or friend. Whatever your approach, you might feel overwhelmed, judged, scared, or emotionally distant, maybe even numb. Speaking with someone who understands, whether individually or as a couple, can greatly help you process your emotions and push aside negative thoughts that could hinder your progress towards your goal.
In our sessions together, whether it’s just you, your partner, or both of you, I focus on bringing together your thoughts and emotions to create balance and start the process of emotional healing. The highs and lows of a fertility journey can deeply affect your body’s functioning. Drawing from my own experience, I offer a safe and compassionate environment where you and your partner can freely express your feelings and overcome any emotional barriers.
